My mum visited a month or so ago and brought me a couple of tablecloths that I remember using at home. They were the 'Good' tablecloths that we used when we had visitors for dinner.
This mustardy coloured one used to make my brother and I giggle, because it was made of Hemp!
The next couple of photos are of tablecloths I bought years ago, probably from Doncare in Templestowe - they used to be my favourite haunt and was close enough that I could go there every couple of days for a quick look.
The one with the Fruit Basket is a smaller cloth, great for breakfasts for one and has cute fruit embroidered all over it - this one is machine embroidered but I just loved it.
The second cloth is a full sized tablecloth with beautiful hand embroidered pansy like flowers in dusty pinks.
Unfortunately I don't use these cloths as often as I should - one day (when I find the time to iron them properly) I will take a photo of them on my table, so you can see just how beautiful they are.
Silvia, I can't find an email address for you, so I'm hoping you will find this message here. I haven't seen you on the opshop blog for a while, but I found this blog while looking for something else. I have been admiring your linens, and would LOVE to see the rest of your collection! I also have a large collection, and some of it is going to be on show at Bundoora Homestead from next Wednesday 29th Aug, through to Sunday September 16th.(It isn't open Mondays and Tuesdays). I'll be there every day, so if you are able to drop in, I'd love to meet you!
ReplyDeleteHi Gina, so thrilled you thought of me. I am working full time Mon - Fri in the city at the moment, so don't really get any op shopping time at all at the moment, but I do still read the the Op Shop blog.
ReplyDeleteMy linens are stuck in a box in my garage at the moment - when we moved into a much smaller house a couple of years ago I had no where inside to store them - I am almost too afraid to go and look at their condition.
I will definitely come and see your exhibition next weekend - I read about it on your blog a few months ago.
If you ever want to contact me my email address is silviamadigan@gmail.com.
See you then ~ Silvia
